Melodies Have A Way Of Sticking With You
Through the years some of these songs never left my mind and because they were compositions from the past, it was a challenge to bring new life to them.
This cd, our second, Eric Ineke and JazzXpress certainly rose to the occasion. They wrote well thought out arrangements leaving room to just have fun. With a trip from Holland to the USA, in the land of jazz and BBQ, they were now on my home turf and we had a great recording session that included a musical “life” from Bobby Watson.
In these stressful days when people just want something soothing to listen to, I decided to select songs by degree of difficulty. I think my jazz audience expects music with substance. Also, as singers, we like to look for those “hidden gems”, something seldom done, ad there are so many beautiful melodies that have been done in the past. So, if you like strong melodies and timeless classics with a slight twist, this is for you!
I’d like to thank my dear husband, Michael Hansen, for keeping me motivated to get this cd recorded, Bobby and Pam Watson for providing me with songs, love and patience. Bobby, you’re a real musician’s friend in so many ways… thank you for all your support. Bill Crain, an engineer with “big ears”… you’re one of the best, many thanks for all the hours you spent! Eric, Marius, Sjoerd, Rodolpho and a special thanks to Rob for your beautiful arrangements.
I’d also like to thank Inye Wokoma for the lovely photos. I’d like to thank all my jazz “friends” for their support of our live performances.
